本次准则修订是国际博协历时多年对话与协商的成果。自2020年起，国际博协职业道德常设委员会（ETHCOM）开展了四轮会员咨询，以及问卷调查、草案审阅，并与各国家委员会、国际委员会、地区联盟和附属组织进行了交流。

本次会议的与会者将有机会在2026年6月25日国际博协全体大会对修订版准则进行表决前，深入了解最终版本内容。

Messages by UNESCO Director-General and ICOM President for International Museum Day 2026

On 18 May, UNESCO Director-General Mr. Khaled El-Enany delivered a speech to mark International Museum Day 2026, paying tribute to all those who keep museums alive, including museum professionals, visitors and communities. Meanwhile, Antonio Rodríguez, President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), released a video address for the occasion. He stressed that museums are not simply custodians of the past; they are vital agents for connection, understanding, and peace in the present. In addition, all members of the ICOM Executive Board recorded video messages to extend their best wishes and encouragement.

Upcoming Global Webinar on the Revision of ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums

ICOM warmly invites all its members to join the global online webinar on the revision of the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums, to be held from 14:00 to 15:30 CEST on 29 May 2026.

The revision of the Code is the outcome of years of in-depth dialogue and consultation across the ICOM global network. Since 2020, the ICOM Ethics Committee (ETHCOM) has conducted four rounds of member consultations, alongside surveys and draft reviews. It has also maintained exchanges with national committees, international committees, regional alliances and affiliated organizations.

Participants will get an opportunity to learn about the final version of the revised Code ahead of the vote at the 41st ICOM Ordinary General Assembly on 25 June 2026.

UNESCO and ICOM Launch Global Survey on AI Application in Museums

To gain an in-depth understanding of AI’s impact, opportunities and challenges for the museum sector, UNESCO and ICOM have jointly launched a global survey. It aims to collect concrete examples and baseline data on the application of AI in museums worldwide.

Museums of all types and sizes across the globe are welcome to take part. The survey will close on 21 July 2026. Based on the findings, UNESCO and ICOM will jointly publish a follow-up report.

Online Conference Launches Registration by UK Museums Association

The Museums Association will host an online conference titled Visitor Voices: Understanding Your Audiences on 8 July 2026. Over the past decade, profound global changes have greatly transformed how audiences perceive and engage with museums. The event will bring together experts in visitor research to analyse the impacts of such changes on museums, and explore strategies for programme planning as well as engagement with new and existing audiences.
